Ryan Interview with Scottish press

- On the up coming ETTU match this weekend in Spain -

1/ Drum had a great adventure in Europe last year. What were some of your favourite memories from that trip?
= apart from the ´goofing around´ - we managed to get Terry in the swimming pool fully clothed - it was the spirit in which their supporters got behind their team. we dont get that in the UK so much

2/ Given the opposition, is it possible to get through the first stage again this year?
= Having spoken to various friends recently at the European Championships in Czech at the strength of the 2 teams we face then yes, i think so. it will be tough, but that is life - this is European table tennis and a great standard

3/ what do you know about the opposition.
= that they have Chinese players playing for them. Of course China are the best and wordly feared but we have played many and can do this

4. Obviously, if you do get through, you personally will miss the next round as you are in Delhi. Will that make you more determined to help ensure the club's passage?
How will you feel at missing it?
= I always do what i can for the Drum as we have a special friendship and I owe the club lots. I´ve had great times there and will continue to have many more, i will do what i can this weekend in Spain to allow the Drum to continue in this big competition. i´m hoping they will win the next round whilst i´m in Delhi and i can come back in to help afterwards.....
I always give 100 percent for them.

5/With the strength of Barrow, Drumchapel now face an almighty fight in the British league. Do you think the club can still go on and win the title again?
Yes i do - we don´t want to lose this title and we play them again in November with a different gameplan. They are strong but we qre more experienced and can learn from our mistakes. We are hurt and want revenge on them...

Belgian League Match

Tuesday evening saw Diest take on the ex European Club champions in Villette Charleroi.
With Villette resting Jean Michel Saive after his Q-Final placing in Ostrava, Diest though they had a chance, but quickly felt their strength.

New boy, Darius Knight, lost both his matches to Andrej Gacina of Croatia (world number 58) and Chinese man Wang (who beat Suss last season). Davy Vanvinkenroy lost to Danchenko of Ukraine and Wang. Deist (Jenkins and Knight) lost the doubles to Wang and Gacina.

Jenkins lost to Gacina in 3 sets but made Deists only point of the night against the former Ukraine number 1 Danchenko with a 3-0 win....

Final score 6-1 Villette

Tonight is Diest vs EBS at home 20.00 CET

British League

After a tough week in the EC in Ostrava, it was back home to the UK for British League in London.
Barrow were the team to beat with Paul Drinkall, Darius Knight and Gavin Rumgay in their team but Drumchapel were going to give it their best against the possible London 2012 GB team.

Ryan beat Rumgay 3-1 but lost to Drinkall 0-3 with two sets being 11-9. Barrow won 5-3 and now have the early lead as league leaders. Drumchapel will fight back though as they will want to defend their title and make it 3 championships in a row.
