Cippenham Winter Festival

Some great results from Welsh players at the Cippenham tournament this weekend. Chris Griffiths won the U14 event beating Vince from London 3-0 in the final. Vince happened to beat another Welsh star (who has just been selected for the 6 nations in Scotland) Conor Edwards 1-3 in the semi final.

Owen Clutterbuck wins his 2 matches:

West of Scotland Open

The West of Scotland Open takes place this weekend at Holyrood Sports Centre in Glasgow.
Welsh players on show include Steve Jenkins, Patrick Thomas, Nick Brown, Ceri James and Welsh number 1 Naomi Owen.

Commonwealth Kit Fitting

Players from the Commonwealth Games squad will get the chance to measure up for the kit they may well receive at the Village hotel in Coryton on Monday 18th January in readiness for the Games in October.

National Development Forum 2010

The TTAW will form part of the 'National Coaches Development Forum' at the Welsh Institute of Sport on the 21st of January.
This will help table tennis have a say in what developoments are needed in conjunction with the Sports Council for Wales and other NGB's

Psychology & Nutrition workshops, SCW.

On the 19th January [psychology] and the 26th January [nutrition] the TTAW will have the help of Sports Council for Wales staff at their squad sessions in WIS, Cardiff.
This will be a great help for our elite players.

German Open - Berlin

Players selected for the German senior Open in Berlin are:

Adam Robertson, Naomi Owen and Patrick Thomas
Coach - Ryan Jenkins

This will take place 18-21 March

Abertillery Open 2010

The Abertillery Open will take place on the 24th January 2010. This takes place the same weekend as the West of Scotland Open in Glasgow, however, all junior players from the TTAW are asked to enter this Welsh event.

Wales are 44th in the current Men's world team ranking. The women find themselves a little lower at 77th place.

Welsh Primary Schools Trial

On the 23rd January the TTAW will be organising a primary schools trial for both girls and boys. The winners will automatically earn their place in the team for the trip to Guernsey. The other 3 members will be selected through the selection committee who will meet shortly after the event.

The Team Championship of Wales matches for Juniors (Saturday 9th January 2010) and Seniors (Sunday 10th) have been cancelled due to the current poor weather conditions and forecast for more snow.
