Half Term


4 Hungarian players make their way to the UK to train with the Welsh squad this holiday time at the Sport Wales National Centre

Wales' best will play in the A squad sessions Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The B squad come in just Tuesday and Thursday whilst the development group train on Wednesday only

Players from 5 years old right up to number 1 in Wales will be part of next weeks camps

Charlotte, Angharad, Chloe and Megan are currently top of the premier division and will look to complete their task this weekend and get crowned Champs this Sunday

The boys are near the top in division 2 and will look to take the opposition this weekend to win their league

Filton College take Wales



Last night at the Sport Wales National Centre a 7 strong team from Filton took on the challenge against a young Welsh side

Lewis Williams, Alex Prosser, Dan O'Connell, Conor Edwards, Charlotte Carey, Nicole Hall, Megan Phillips and Angharad Phillips lost out 12-16 in the end

Wales' best player, Alex Prosser, had a great day with some fine wins

A rematch has been asked for just before Wales depart for the World Championships with hopefully a stronger team in place

200 Club


The 200 club will be trying to recruit further members at the Cardiff Grand Prix and the Welsh Championships over the coming weeks. Each month a draw takes place where cash prizes are won by its members. It costs £1 a month to become a member and all profits go to towards the benefit of table tennis in this country.

The Table Tennis Association held a very worth while and rewarding board meeting and EGM on Sunday February 5th at Sport Wales National Centre

Minutes of the meeting will be available soon to all members

- An interesting topic will be around weather TTAW change their name to 'Table Tennis Wales' at the AGM this summer?

Swansea Dragon Event

Swansea will host their first ever Dragon event with the help of Swansea Building Society on February 26th at Penlan Leisure Centre

The sponsors will enable the tournament to rent hall space and other essentials in order to put on a tournament to be proud of

TTAW Development Coach Aled Howells has been instrumental in getting this to come together an shows the effort being put into the area by TTAW

Glamorgan Reach the Premier

Last weekend Glamorgan 1 Juniors beat Sussex '2' 10-0,Surrey '1' 6 games to 4, Hants 10-0 & Dorset 7 games to 3.

Congratulations to Connor Edwards, Ryan Oyler, Alex Prosser, Nicole Hall & Beth Roberts.

A special thank you to Aled Rhys Howell for giving up his weekend to coach the team. Glamorgan 2nd Team of Chris Griffiths, Callum Evans, Liam Winder, Sharlene Williams & Caitlin Williams beat Sussex '2' 6 games to 4, Lost 6-4 to Surrey, drew 5-5 with Dorset & beat Hants 8-2.

A special mention for Liam Winder who won his first County game in the Hampshire match & then went on to win a second.

Development Camp - Sunday

This Sunday players as young as 5 years old will train with Welsh coaches to get off to a great start in their table tennis careers

Development Camps have been happening monthly since August and have helped many young starters into the game

Welsh Primary Schools Trials...


...take place on the 3rd March at 3pm in the main hall of Sport Wales National Centre. These trials will find the best 4 boys and best 4 girls to represent Wales in Scotland this April

Cardiff Schools Event

On Friday an event in Cardiff will go ahead to see the best school of the region. This takes place at Sport Wales National Centre with several schools in action

Welsh Championships


The organisers of the Welsh Championships have included the U21 category for the first time in a few years

With more and more players still playing after the junior days it feels the right time for younger stars to perform in more events over the weekend

North Wales Regional Camps


Every 3 months the National Coach will hold a North Wales Regional Camp to help improve the players from Denbigh & Wrexham who have shown great improvements recently

The first camp - Q1 - will take place on the 4th February in Denbigh and the second date - Q2 - scheduled for 19th May in Wrexham

Letters to the chosen players will arrive in due course

England Camps @ Sheffield

Ryan Oyler, fresh from his double win at the Glamorgan Champs in Nantymoel today, along with runner up Chris Griffiths and Lewis Williams will attend a 3 day camp in Sheffield with the England junior squad 14-16th January

The ladies camp, which is 2 weeks later, will see Angharad Phillips, Megan Phillips and Chloe Thomas attend with the top English females

Finland Open


Ryan Jenkins and team mate Chris Doran are seeded 5th in the team event starting tomorrow at 11am where they play the winners of New Zealand/Bulgaria or Finland 2.

Naomi Owen and Charlotte Carey play Austrailia/New Zealand at 9am, whilst Angharad Phillips and team mate Hannah Hicks play Russia 6 at the same time.

On the 4th August 2012.....


...The TTAW will hold a coaching conference which will be extremely valuable to all coaches throughout Wales.

The conference to be held at Sport Wales National Centre will hold a general session with more specific workshops in the afternoon

A guest coach will also be in attendance which will be high profile

Please look out for more information in the new year

Sports Coach UK - Inspire 2014


Ryan Jenkins, The National Coach, has been invited onto a new mentoring programme in the lead up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The Inspire 2014 project will give certain young coaches the benefits of gained experience from noted, high profile coaches.

Ryan was nominated by Sport Wales which makes this even more special
